Your First Visit We wish to extend to you a "Special Invitation" to worship with us. Our services are open to the public. Following are some of the things that you can expect when you come. Our plea at the College Park Church of Christ is for New Testament restoration. We are troubled over the fact that hundreds if not thousands of differing religious institutions, all preaching different doctrines, exist on every corner in our city. We pray for unity of God's people founded upon the examples and teachings of the first century church. We sing, pray, teach, remember the death of the Lord, and give our offerings as God has prospered. Our purpose in worshiping on Sunday is to worship and praise our Savior "in spirit and in truth" (John 4: 23-24), and our desire is for you to be relaxed and join in with us. The singing is congregational and all are invited to sing (Col. 3: 16). You do not have to have a great singing voice to sing with us, and you do not have to have a great singing voice to be pleasing to God. This is a great time of praise to our King! The prayer is offered without display. It is a simple and audible prayer spoken by one man as others silently pray along. We lift these prayers up from the heart (I Cor. 14: 15), and seek His mercy and His blessings on us and on Mankind. We will pray for our government leaders and we will pray for the sick, bereaved, and others that may be in need of prayer. (I Tim. 2: 1-3) The teaching that you will hear is biblical. We desire only what the Lord commands and not that of men. The men of the congregation who are qualified to teach, do so one at a time (I Cor. 14: 31-40). The purpose of the teaching is to edify the whole assembly. Christians are asked to remember the death of Jesus Christ on each Lord's Day. Christ instituted a way for us to do this in Matt. 26: 26-29 and I Cor. 11: 23-26. This is a time when we look back at the cross and remember the suffering and the sacrifice our Savior endured for our sins. The communion is offered to anyone who wishes to partake. We believe that a person should examine themselves and seriously consider the body and blood of Christ before partaking. I Cor. 11: 27-29 says, "Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup." As given by example from the early church, we will give our offerings. These funds are used to help in the spreading of the Gospel in this area, as well as across the world. It is also used to help in benevolent ways. It is a free will offering: contributions from visitors are not solicited. The contribution is collected each Lord's Day (I Cor. 16: 1-2). Friendliness is a natural part of the Christian life. That's exactly what you will see when you visit with us. Just as in other areas of life, you will also meet people at our assemblies that are hurting, some may be sad, others may be cranky or a few may be old soreheads. We are not perfect people...just forgiven. You should know, however, that as a congregation our intention is to adopt the loving, caring attributes of Christ. If you are looking for a place to call home...come and worship with us! If you would like a personal visit, Bible study or a free Bible Correspondence course, please call 281-419-1950, or e-mail info@collegeparkcofc.org. We stand ready to serve in any way we can!
