Psalm 14:1, Psalm 53:1 

I. I Believe In God Because Of The Evidence Of Intuition.

A. There is an intuition which tells man of a Higher power.

i. Psalm 42: 1,2 "As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?"

ii. All nations and tribes believe in supernatural beings. How could the idea arise from a no-God basis?

II. I Believe In God Because It Is Logical To Do So.

A. It is not reasonable to believe that something came from nothing

i. Something cannot come from nothing.

ii. Something exists.

iii. Therefore, something has always existed. We believe that something to be the self-existent, omnipotent God.

B. It is not reasonable to believe that living beings came from non-living substances.

i. Living beings cannot come from non-living, lifeless things.

ii. Living beings exist.

iii. Therefore, living being(s) have always existed. We believe that living being to be the eternal God of the Bible.

C. It is not reasonable to believe that thinking beings can come from non-thinking beings.

i. Thinking beings cannot come from non-thinking beings.

ii. Thinking beings exist.

iii. Therefore, thinking beings have always existed. We believe that thinking, living being to be the self-existent, eternal spirit whom we call God.

III. I Believe In God Because Of The Evidence Of Design

A. The human body is evidence of design and adaptation of means to ends.

i. The eye for sight, eats for hearing, and other parts.

ii. How do those microscopic cells know to finally make a man?

iii. Not by chance. Gen. 2: 7 "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

B. Have the organs of a plant or an animal the intelligence to assemble themselves?

i. Peach Tree.

ii. Design and intelligence indicates a Creator.

IV. I Believe In God Because Of The Evidence Of Cause and Effect.

A. The scientific law of cause and effect demands a Maker

i. Every effect must have an adequate cause.

ii. Psalm 19:1 "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork."

B. The only cause great enough for a created universe is God.

i. Our universe is carefully planned and thought out.

1. Our sun-could hold over a million earths, if hollow, yet there are stars that could easily hold a half a billion suns like ours. It is only a speck compared to the "Milky Way," as our galaxy is called.

2. The Milky Way- There are 100 billion (11 zeros) stars in the average galazy. There are 100 million (8 zeros) galaxies in known space. Einstein: "We have probed only one billionth of "theoretical space." If true, there are an estimated 10 octillion (28 zeros) stars. How did they get there?

ii. Our universe is precise as well as vast.

1. We can tell the position of any star at any given moment, past, present, or future, with precision. We can foretell the visit of a comet or the occasion of an eclipse hundreds of years in advance. Not the product of chance!

2. Our solar system is 100,000 light years in diameter. It is revolving at the speed of 200 miles per second, yet it will take 200 million years to make one revolution. It takes light over 4 years to reach from our nearest fixed star- Alpha Centauri.

C. The only cause great enough to create the atom is God.

i. The atom is another universe too small to be seen, even with a microscope. This basic building block of the universe would take 150,000 million places side by side to measure one inch long.

ii. Yet, each atom is a miniature solar system, having a core (nucleus), around which a given number of electrons revolve.

D. The only cause great enough for man, nature, the church, the Bible, answered prayers, changed lives, and Christian assurance is God.

II Tim. 1: 12 "For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day."

V. I Believe In God Because Of The Evidence Of Revelation.

A. There is a supernatural revelation (the Bible), as well as a natural revelation. Psalm 19: 1-4 "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun".

i. If man is lost as the Bible declares, then it is probable that God would make revelation of His will and purpose.

ii. If God could create man and all else, it surely would be possible for Him to make further revelation, other than that afforded in nature.

iii. If man is in darkness, as the Bible declares, then it is also necessary that God reveal Himself to man.

B. Since it is possible, probable, and even necessary that God make a supernatural revelation of Himself, we believe He did and the result is the book called the Holy Bible.
